The things people ask before they connect an account.

Do I have to give you my Instagram password?

No. You connect through Instagram’s official Business Login: you approve the app on Instagram’s own consent screen, and we receive a token — never a password. That token is upgraded to a 60-day long-lived one and refreshed automatically when it gets within ten days of expiring. You can revoke it from Instagram at any time.

Is this against Instagram’s rules? Will my account get banned?

No, and that is the whole design. There is no scraping and no headless browser logging in as you. Every reply goes out through Meta’s official Private Replies and Messaging APIs, using the permissions you granted. The engine never sends cold outreach — only people who commented on your post or messaged you first are ever contacted — and it stays inside Meta’s own rate limits.

How can it DM someone who has never messaged me?

Instagram allows exactly one thing here: a private reply addressed to a comment id. When someone comments on your post, Meta lets you open a DM in response to that specific comment, within seven days. That is the mechanism AutoDMTool uses, and the only legal one. It is not a bulk DM tool, and it cannot message people who did not interact with you.

What kind of Instagram account do I need?

A professional account — Business or Creator. Personal accounts cannot use Instagram’s messaging and comment APIs at all, so no tool can automate them. Switching is free and takes a minute in the Instagram app.

What are the sending limits?

Meta’s, not ours: 750 private replies per hour and 200 messages per hour, per account. AutoDMTool tracks both with a persisted sliding window, and anything over the limit is deferred and sent when there is room again rather than being dropped. Follow-ups also respect Instagram’s 24-hour messaging window.

I already posted the reel. Can it answer the comments that are already there?

Yes — that is what Rewind does. Turn a rule on for an existing post and it re-reads that post’s comments and answers the ones that match. Instagram only accepts a private reply for seven days after the comment, so anything older than that is skipped honestly instead of being queued and silently dropped.

What are Trial Reels, and why does that matter?

Instagram keeps Trial Reels out of your media list until they graduate, so no app can list them — which is why no other tool automates them. A comment is the first moment such a reel becomes visible at all, so AutoDMTool catalogues every unknown media id it sees a comment on and lets you point a rule at exactly those. Once the reel graduates into your media list, it is marked as such.

Do the AI tools cost extra, and do you read my comments?

Yes, and you choose how you pay for them: fold AI into your subscription, or go pay-as-you-go and only pay for what you actually use. You never need to bring your own API key — that side is handled for you. The tools stay optional and off until you switch them on, and a call cap means a comment storm cannot run up a bill. Comment text reaches the model as delimited data with an explicit instruction never to follow instructions inside it, because a comment is a stranger’s text.

Can it publish my posts too, not just reply to them?

Yes. Schedule queues Posts, Reels, Stories and Carousels on a week, month or list calendar with a media library and drag-and-drop, and publishes them for you. If you filled in the DM automation tab, the comment-to-DM rule is created against the new media id the moment the post goes live, so it works from the very first comment. Instagram allows 50 API-published posts per 24 hours, and the limiter tracks it.

How do you know whether people clicked the link in the DM?

Instagram does not report it, so buttons in outgoing DMs are rewritten to a tracked link on your own domain that records the tap and redirects to the real destination. Link-preview crawlers are redirected but never counted, and the inbox thread stores the original URL rather than the tracking hop. Leads are counted separately: a contact who writes an email address or phone number into a DM is recorded the first time it happens.
